Overview:
The School of Languages and Linguistics (LAL) seeks to appoint a Lecturer in English (ESL/EFL) as part of the English Language Enhancement Strategy for international students at Griffith University. The successful applicant will undertake the teaching of English to students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. He or she will convene and teach in English language enhancement courses in cooperation with colleagues in the School of Languages and Linguistics and the Griffith English Language Institute (GELI), as well as designing innovative materials for these courses. Although the position is primarily a teaching one, the appointee will also have the opportunity to undertake research in areas related to the teaching and learning of English.

This is a Fixed term (12 months), Full time position based at the Nathan and Gold Coast Campus.

The role:
This is a teaching-intensive position. Your primary role will involve convening an undergraduate English language enhancement course across multiple campuses, contributing to the development and innovation of the curriculum and materials for this course, and teaching in one or more undergraduate English language enhancement courses in cooperation with other staff at LAL and GELI. You will also have the opportunity to conduct research leading to publications in the area of English language learning and teaching. You will undertake administrative responsibilities for the program, School and Faculty, participate actively in school, faculty and university meetings and forums, and contribute to the profession of ESL/EFL and Applied Linguistics both within the University and in the broader academic community.

The person:
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in English as a Second/Foreign Language or related area and will have recent experience teaching ESL/EFL at tertiary level and the ability to apply creative approaches to teaching and learning and develop innovative course materials. You will also need to provide leadership in delivering courses in collaboration with a supporting teaching team. You will have the capacity to publish high quality research and supervise Honours, Masters, and PhD theses in appropriate areas.

Salary range:
Lecturer level B: $73,388 - $87,151 per annum.
